Our Aim
Our village aims to offer a stimulating lifestyle and so solicits ideas from you. We advocate inclusiveness, tolerance and patience, as some may be a little shy and some not used to living and sharing within a close community.
Inclusiveness
You are encouraged to devise and support activities that get residents involved in their community either inside or outside the village. In particular activities should entice residents out of their villas and into social situations, because this is known to increase happiness and mental welfare.
Tolerance
Village living has similarities to sharing a house with others, in that you get to see their foibles; that some contribute more than others; that you have different views on politics, religion and social mores, so don't become upset on the basis of rumours, as they rarely turn out to be accurate reflections of reality. Matters that come out from our committees have been studied, and since their members are your fellow residents, you can be certain they are affected in the same way you are by their proposals.
Patience
Although we own our village we have contracted away our right to manage it. When we want things done the way we want them done, we negotiate with our management company and their representative, our village manager. To do that we first have to come to agreement amongst ourselves, as to what it is most of us want done. We do that through discussions that culminate in a vote at one of our 'residents general meetings'. We put our agreed position to management and sometimes this involves extended arguing of our case. Some we win and some we lose. The point is that this all takes time before we get a result either way. The perception that nothing seems to be happening does not mean that nothing is in fact happening. If you feel you have proposals that can speed the process, please consider joining the appropriate committee.

Newsletter

Select to view
Each month we publish a newsletter Harbourside Happenings. All residents are encouraged to contribute items for this informative journal of life at Harbourside Village. It provides us with forewarning of upcoming events for our diaries, what has been going on in the past month, and the status of activities affecting how our village looks, is being managed, or changes in train. An archive of newletters can be found by clicking on the link.
Website

Our website contains general information about life and living at Harbourside, as well as a password-protected 'Residents Only' section which provides information personal to residents including, but not restricted to, meeting dates, meeting minutes, contact information, village documentation, a monthly Activities diary and other matters applicable to residents only. Your input to, and suggestions for, the website is welcomed.
Television Reception

In October 2012 the Village converted to providing digital-only television reception, having turned off the analogue signal well ahead of the official turnoff date of April 2013. A new digital head-end amplifier has been installed to enhance reception of digital and HD TV, and the cable reticulation has been overhauled to ensure any future problems are minimised. The improved digital reception also includes an in-house movie channel and an information and village news channel specifically provided for residents on digital channels 45 and 46. Residents who want to obtain Foxtel pay TV will need to obtain it privately, with the addition of a satellite dish on their roof.
Notice Boards

In the clubhouse there are notice boards in the foyer, café and computer room. On these boards you will find current information about social events, sports or other activities, and committee and village business.
Social Events

Social events, including dinners, are arranged from time to time by members of our Social sub-committee. For some paid events and activities the number of participants may be restricted. If you want to participate you generally need to put your name forward to a Social sub-committee member, and an organiser will take payments. Dates of events are usually published well in advance.
Computers

Computers are available for your use at anytime in the Media room on the 2nd floor of the Clubhouse next to the Boardroom, giving you full access to the Web. There is also a shared printer. An archive of minutes, correspondence, newsletters, photos, policies, etc can be accessed on either of the computers. Select Guest account to begin then click on the desktop folders for Minutes, newsletters, photographs, etc. While we try to keep it up to date it is a voluntary activity and the volunteers do go away, so delays can occur.
