HV Grapevine NEWS – 10th June

Smoke Detectors: have been re-installed in The Rise and The Walk.  It also links the smoke alarm to the Smartlink system and therefore rings in the office when the alarm activates.

Carport Application:  Planning application lodged with City of Wanneroo.  Two quotes received, awaiting third.

New Spa:  Spa is ordered, awaiting quotes for ground and pipework.

Pigeons: Programme finished. Consideration is being given to alternative solution.

Security: Proposal to be presented to next RGM.

Brightwater: LL has formed a partnership with this service. It is similar to Silver Chain providing care in the community. They will offer the village their services and when the client base reaches 50 hours per week they will provide a dedicated worker who would be familiar with residents and who would be able to provide continuity of care. To the benefit of all residents, they will donate 10 sessions of free wellness activities. They will also give priority when a resident needs the next level of care at their low/high care facilities. Representatives will be attending the 2nd July Morning Tea and will provide information and costs of the services they provide.

Worksafe: Arrived for a surprise inspection. One question asked was how staff dealt with inebriated residents. Manager explained that staff have no responsibility in the bar area and it is the residents responsibility to clear up the area as it is an extension of the residents home and is not licenced. Staff cannot get involved with any inebriated person and must remove themselves from the situation.

(Ed Note:  As no resident has ever been identified in an intoxicated state at any time in the 12-year history of our village, one can only wonder how staff identify how to remove themselves!)
