HV Grapevine NEWS – 17 March 2014 SPA PROGRESS This is a progress note to inform you that the non-compliant spa has now been removed from the village. Alan Stirling and I met with the spa consultant who is dealing with our Department of Health (DOH) application at a spa supplier in Osborne Park and looked at various spas that meet all the necessary DOH and Retirement Village requirements. Once the consultant has informed us which spa(s) we can proceed with, that also meets with our needs and fits the village spa area, we will take a few residents of various physical capabilities to have a look and try out (dry access) the spa before we proceed further. In general the Spas we have chosen from allow for use by up to 6 persons with ample foot room in the centre area, are non-slip and low enough for easier access or the use of low simple firm fitted steps if required. Handrails will be provided and we are trying to colour match to the pool. Once selected a photo of the preferred spa(s) will be displayed on the Notice Board. Deborah Searle - Manager Remember - the monthly morning tea with guest speakers is tomorrow Wednesday 5th March.
The March HH has been added to the Newsletter page, and emailed to you if you are on the Email list; if you are not on the list yet then send an email to the Editor.

Watch out for some major changes on how we present information for you on the "Residents Only" page. Welcome to 2014! A new year at Harbourside promises many things; activities in the village, or outside it, sporting tournaments to be enjoyed, social get-togethers, lunches & dinners, and perhaps more importantly for some the chance of another trip or cruise, I know some who are already planning those! Whatever it is that interests you in the new year I hope that part of your activities will be using your website to obtain all the information you need about the village. In particular your monthly newsletter always appears in full colour before the beginning of the month. This year also promises to be the one when we may see some activity on the Clubhouse refurbishment project. So let's all get involved in our village and enjoy it to the full. Looking forward to seeing you all at the Friday Sundowners! Your new Resident's Committee for 2013-14 has started work and they certainly seem to be an enthusiastic bunch! Alan Stirling takes the Chair, bringing to the committee a wealth of knowledge and is supported by a range of both ladies and gentlemen whom most of you already know. Sub-committees will evolve as the year progresses so we may all look forward to a range of new activities and social events. Who knows, we may all soon begin to take part in planning to upgrade the furniture and decoration of our Clubhouse. I'd like to see that! Please click HERE for a Notice from your Resident's Committee. Today the Residents General Meeting voted not to proceed with the proposed refurbishment. There are currently no proposals to refurbish the Clubhouse. Once the vote to exclude the Panorama room succeeded, it meant that those against that motion had to vote against the motion to proceed with refurbishment. At this time any further proposals to refurbish the clubhouse will be up to a future committee, as members of the current subcommittee indicated that they will not put themselves through the process again. (Ken Leslie)
Refurbishment has turned out to be as contentious as foreshadowed at our workshop meetings' introduction. However, the big list of suggested changes has been culled to a small subset as shown in the linked slideshow. Just click on this picture and then click on "Present" button at top to see what has been recommended. Welcome again to the Harbourside Blog, now 12 months old, from your always very approachable webmaster! You can comment on any blog by using the comment facility, either to comment on it or add a new feature of your own, further expanding our ever-changing website. Welcome to autumn, the cooler months lie ahead after a hot and prolonged summer! It also heralds a rather surprising turnaround from this time last year. What is it? Well, after checking the Lend Lease Retirement Living website, it is possible that, by the end of this month, there might only be ONE property left for sale at Harbourside (or none!). Those recent arrivals who have made our village their home certainly got in at the right time! Check out that website HERE. |
